Cocktails and Art

Writer's picture: Dennis CornettDennis Cornett

Once more, I had the opportunity to participate in an event at the Joy & Wylde Redstone Art Gallery. This event was organized for the Plein Air painters who have been meeting for the past 4 years, exploring unique locations in the valley for their artistic endeavors. The variety of styles within the group was a delight to see. They voted among themselves who deserved the blue ribbon, and all the art was up for sale. Some of the paintings were sold even while the paint had yet to dry!

I was in charge of the cocktails. This isn't my normal type of gig. My main focus is food, but when a client reaches out, I do my utmost to cater to their needs. This client told me she had chosen a couple of cocktails to serve, in addition to the wine, beer, and non-alcoholic refreshments. It was up to me to figure out how to make the cocktails just right. Not too sweet, not too strong, and so on.

After a few hours of messing around with the balances, my partner and I felt we had discovered just the right mix of ingredients. The two cocktails we made were a pomegranate lemonade vodka spritzer and a whiskey lemonade with a sprig of rosemary. Both of these had a base of Topo Chico sparkling water. They ended up being uniquely flavorful and were popular amongst the gallery visitors and artists.

I really enjoyed working with the Redstone gallery again, and even more so, getting to meet the artists and visitors. Every client I have is important to me, and I do what I can to help make their visions a reality. My repeat clients are especially valuable to be because I get to not only count them as regular clients, but also as friends. Allow me to help make YOUR visions possible, too!
